A recent survey indicates that roughly over 80% of the American populace disapproves of the job congress is doing. I suppose this means the president should be happy with his 45% approval rating, not that it makes any difference since the president can't do a whole lot without the approval of congress.
The same survey indicates that republicans feel the supreme court is too liberal while democrats feel that the supreme court is too conservative. They say you can't please all of the people all of the time, but this is getting a bit crazy now isn't it?
They say America is the Great Experiment, but really it's the Great Compromise. A good compromise means that no one is happy with the results and in that respect the Great Compromise was a success, no one is happy.
The problem here is that everyone is different, they're never going to agree on one over arching way of life because they all have different purposes in life. You can't make a coal miner live like a rocket scientist and you can't make a farmer live like a wall street trader.
Any good machine is comprised of many different parts each with their own important task. An internal combustion engine requires both an intake manifold and exhaust headers, both parts are different and both parts are integral to the operation of the whole engine. You cannot replace an intake manifold with exhaust headers, neither can you replace the headers with an intake manifold. If the intake manifold was conscious imagine if it had the power to tell the exhaust headers what to do. The intake manifold probably thinks it's the best and that the exhaust headers should be more like it, but if the manifold succeeded the engine simply wouldn't work.
That's exactly what we do in human society. Everybody thinks their way of life is the best, they all think others should live like them, but in truth this does not work. We need all the different people to be as different as they are in order for this great machine to work perfectly. When we get together and vote on a single set of rules for every person to live by we attempt to eliminate their differences and in effect the engine falls apart. We try to make the farmer live by the same rules as the wall street trader and the coal miner the same rules as the rocket scientist. We try to make the exhaust headers conform to the same rules as the intake manifold and in the end we've destroyed the usefulness of the engine.
It is not possible for an elected group of people to provide for the people because they cannot understand the needs of the people. There are over three hundred million different american citizens, but only a few hundred different congressmen and women. In order to fully understand the needs of the mechanic you must be a mechanic and in order to fully understand the needs of the business man you must be a business man. What the business man needs is quite different from what the mechanic needs, in order for them to successfully perform their job they cannot be bound by the ideals of those who do not understand their needs.
The only way to achieve a 100% approval rating is to let everyone govern their own life. A cashless society in which all the hammers acknowledge that all the wrenches are of equal value and all the wrenches acknowledge that they cannot do the job of the hammer and all the hammers acknowledge that they cannot do the job of the wrench. All the hammers provide their works to the wrenches and all the wrenches provide their works to the hammers free of charge because they both benefit equally from the combined works of both.
Neither the hammers nor the wrenches will sit idle because hammers that do not hammer and wrenches that do not wrench are not happy and everyone wants to be happy.
