Did you know that the Roman empire actually switched back and forth between democracy and dictatorship several times? Actually various sects of the human race have switched between democracy and dictatorship numerous times throughout history. Really what we're seeing here is that we've noticed time and time again that neither actually work, but by the time we get sick of one we simply don't remember that the other didn't work so we decided to try it again only to end up failing.
It's not always so cut and dry though, we don't always realize that we're trying the same thing again because the titles have changed even though the roles stayed the same. There were Pharaohs, Caesars, Kings and now CEOs. Some are under the impression that a CEO is not a dictator because you don't have to be a follower of his, you can choose any CEO you like, but during the dark ages you didn't have to be a follower of the king of England you could've moved to France or Spain and followed their king if you wanted, nonetheless they were still dictators.
The CEO tells you when you must wake, where you must sit, what you must do, how you should do it, what you are allowed to say, when you are allowed to eat and even who you are allowed to have an intimate relationship with. Honestly the emperor of Rome had not such power over the individual. Personally I think we just made the same mistake yet again, we just didn't see it coming and the CEOs don't realize how tyrannical they are, this is just the world they were born into and assume this is the way things are so this is how they should be. I think they're mistaken, just because we had kings and queens didn't mean we should've had kings and queens.
