I'm a big believer in doing the things you want, being what you want to be and shooting for the things you want to have. At the same time just because you want something doesn't mean you're going to get it. Because it's not just what you want, but what comes with it. You can take a look at something that you want and analyze what it takes to get it and what consequences there are in obtaining it. If you don't want that which comes with whatever it is that you want then perhaps you should just let it go. Sometimes, depending on how much you want something, it can take a lot of strength to let it go, but if it is necessary to let it go you will have become stronger as a person having done so.
In addition to that I find that in pursuit of the things that I want I often end up with something else instead. Which is to say that I may not have gained what it was I set out to obtain, but I gained something unexpected that I didn't even know I needed.
Just because you want something doesn't mean you're going to get it, but I still believe there's a reason you wanted it and whatever it was that you gained along the path may not have been what you wanted, but it was what you needed.
And so it is that what we want is what we need, but only because desire was the catalyst. It is not where you want to go, but where you end up that is where you need to be.
And of course everything you received along the way.
